The Blacklist and the Athens Film Office are collaborating to accept applications starting today for the 2027 Owl Screenwriting Workshop, scheduled to take place January 12-15 in the Greek capital.
The Workshop is an intensive residential development program designed to accelerate bold, audience-driven feature films and television projects for the international market. It is designed specifically for screenwriters who have achieved demonstrated success at the beginning of their career and who are ready to expand their work to an international level. Applicant writers must have at least one professional credit on a feature film or television feature, and the submitted script must be in English or translated into English.
According to the Athens Film Office, the Owl Screenwriting Workshop serves as a bridge for creative talent, connecting emerging screenwriters directly with top producers, executives and international decision-makers. Up to 10 selected professional writers will participate in the program which features high-level mentorship, one-on-one script feedback, master classes, panels and networking events with industry professionals.
Applications can be submitted via the Blacklist website until October 2. Up to 40 projects will be selected for longlisting, based on the strength of their scripts as determined by the blacklist. Entries will be reviewed based on originality, writing style, market potential and the writer’s track record. Creators with underrepresented backgrounds and viewpoints are encouraged to apply.
