Exclusive: Australian crime drama Shrub lands It’s back for season 3, and we’ve got first look photos and casting news.
Luke Arnold (Black sails(And Bella Heathcote)Cut to her) will return to helm the third season, dedicated to Australian broadcaster Stan and his sister radio station 9Network. Jungles: trustas it will be known, will see the pair chasing conspiracy and corruption across Sydney’s underbelly and the expansive views of the Blue Mountains.
Arnold and Heathcote are joined by Lincoln Younis (The last king of the cross(and Danielle Cormack)Wentworth), with Sarah Roberts (Home and away) and Nicholas Bell (Bay of fires) also returns.
Easy Tiger is producing the four-part season, based on Chris Hammer’s best-selling novel Trust Sphere Abacus has been attached for international distribution. Filming has begun in Sydney, and you can see the preview images above and below.
Jungles: trust The event will jump back a decade from previous seasons. In the film’s synopsis: “Mandy Bond (Heathcote) thought she had come to terms with her past, but an old name comes back to haunt her: Tom Molloy (Younes). The man who stole $15 million before disappearing, and the fiancé she never told Martin about. His body is found and with it come the secrets Mandy is desperate to keep hidden.”
Meanwhile, her partner, investigative reporter Martin Scarsden (Arnold), is shaken when his mentor Max Fuller (Bale) apparently commits suicide just hours after asking Martin for help on a big story. Starting where Max left off, Martin’s search takes him through the back lanes of Sydney, the homes of the rich and powerful, and toward a bloody shootout deep in the Blue Mountains. The closer Martin gets to the answers, the more danger he faces. Taking on corrupt developers and powerful figures. As hired killers stand between him and the truth.
Michael Healy, executive director of entertainment at Nine Entertainment, said: “The amazing response to the first two seasons of the series has been amazing.” Shrub lands It signals a huge appetite for premium Australian crime drama.
“The continued enthusiasm for this series is a testament to Chris Hammer’s compelling stories and the exceptional work of our cast and creative team,” co-founders and executive producers Ian Colley and Rob Gibson added in a statement.
Collie and Gibson – whose company is also set to release the final season of the series Collie and Gibson Colin from accounts – produces Jungles: trust Along with Allie Hinville. Felicity Packard is the writer and producer, with Lisa Matthews the director. 9Network’s Healy and Andy Ryan and Stan are executive producers, while Screen NSW provides production support.
